Power Rankings- The Gift

Welcome to Power Rankings where host, Jessica Kinney, gives you the rundown on how the power shifts from week to week on Game of Thrones.

This week’s episode was named The Gift.  Tyrion and Jorah finally made it to Meereen and Tyrion presented himself as Jorah’s gift to Daenerys. Their fate is in her hands now, so let’s hope that she is the merciful Queen that we have seen her to be.  Otherwise, they will be going to meet the fallen Night’s Watch Maester and the shout out this week, Aemon Targaryen. He was a sweet and wise old man and he will be missed, especially by one of the honorable mentions, Samwell Tarley. He got the crap beaten out of him, but he got back up and wasn’t going to just take it lying down…even though he did for a little bit….but ultimately it got him laid. Which, by the way, was the sweetest scene of someone losing their virginity ever.  Another sweet and helpless boy is the other honorable mention this week, Tommen Baratheon. He even said multiple times that even though he was the King, the woman he loved was in a cell and there was nothing he could do about it. Now his mother is in in the cells as well and the poor boy really has no idea what to do.  A family who knows all too well what they are doing starts of the list at number 5, The Boltons. As Ramsey said, even though Stannis is coming, the Bolton’s army are used to fighting in the weather conditions, which gives them an advantage. Their family is still connected to the Starks and the one woman we knew that would help rescue Sansa was just flayed living by her new husband. Talk about marriage issues.  Someone with much more than marital problems is number 4 this week, Stannis Baratheon. He was just told that more men are leaving his cause, the weather is starting to take it’s toll on his remaining men and he needs to sacrifice his only child to be the king he wants so badly to be. With great power comes great….sacrifice. He is still true in his convictions and has come too far to back off now.  Someone who is very true in his convictions and recently given the power he needed is number 3 this week, the High Sparrow. Cersei chose to re-arm the faith militant and named the High Sparrow as the chosen representative for the Fait of the Seven. She thought she was getting rid of the Tyrells by doing this, but she was just thrown in a cell herself. The many are starting to not fear the few…The runner up this week is constantly trying to please the many, Danaerys Targaryen. She re-opened the fighting pits in Meereen and is planning to marry herself to Hizdahr Zo Loraq to be closer to her people. Her next few actions should set the president for her as a ruler. If she can take Jorah back and heed the advice of Tyrion, maybe she will be back on her journey to take the iron throne.  The person who has been trying to get to the throne since episode one is number one, Petyr Baelish. Everything he has ever done was for self-preservation and selfish power. He has probably risen the highest compared to all the other characters. He went from having to make his own sigil to being the puppet master to some of the most influential characters on the show. His power has been on a steady rise and doesn’t seem to be faltering anytime soon.
