Gary Goldman, 1st A.D. Entourage

Gary Goldman, 1st A.D./Associate Producer for the HBO show Entourage, covered a lot of material tonight.

One of the things that was special for me about this episode was Gary was kind enough to let me come down to the Entourage set prior to the interview to watch him work. It made for some extra insight into his and the show’s process. Everyone was fantastic to me on the set and is a very well oiled machined that manages to have a lot of fun as well.

During the interview, we definitely talked some Entourage and what it’s like on the set, how he works in conjunction with the director, the director of photography and the rest of the crew. Of course we covered being a 1st a.d. and compared film to tv work. (Some of Gary’s film credits include: “Below”, “Crazy Beautiful”, “Escanaba in da Moonlight”)

Aside from 1st A.D. stuff we talked about the Directors Guild of America (DGA), what crew positions are covered by the guild and what you have to do and how you can get into it.
