Tonight’s guest Dana Kroeger has a vast amount of experience in both the Studio and Indie film world enabling her to discuss and compare and contrast the two. Kroeger has worked on: ‘Ali’, ‘American Beauty’, ‘Lemony Snicket’, ‘Cat in the Hat’, ‘The Holiday’, ‘The New World’, ‘Collateral Damage’, ‘The Hunted’, ‘The Patriot’, and ‘Broken Arrow’.

Further she graduated film school at Colorado U. at Boulder… Written and director her own indie projects… And we touched on as much as we could.

Kroeger shared the painful lesson she learned years ago by not having a separate back-up drive on one project where much was lost when her computer shorted out, oouch!

It was nice to hear Kroeger talk about the Coen Brothers, Clint Eastwood and what she likes about their style versus others. For example, the benefits of maximizing pre-production, having and following a game plan when it comes to production and how that enables the different departments of a film to best do their jobs. (You would think that would be the norm, but her experience is not.)

The passion moment of the show came when Kroeger talked about being nice to people on set and treated everyone with respect. Well if know me, then you know how much I agreed with her and added a few points of my own.

Her preference for digital cameras? Cannon. Though when an instant message came in asking her about Panasonic she had good things to say about those as well.

Check it out if you haven’t already. www.thestream.tv/filmnut will take you directly to this episode as well as all past filmnut shows.
